UCL: PSG secures key advantage over Chelsea with special request approval

Paris Saint-Germain has secured a key advantage over Chelsea before their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash against the Blues in March.

PSG made a special request for their French Ligue 1 game against Nantes to be moved to a later date to ensure Luis Enrique’s side is in the best possible condition for their Champions League Round of 16 second leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Parisians will host the first leg against the Premier League west London club at Parc des Princes on Wednesday, 11 March, with the second leg on Tuesday, 17 March.

The reigning Champions League holders are scheduled to face Nantes on the weekend between those two legs against Chelsea.

As a result, PSG wants their French Ligue 1 tie against Nantes to be postponed.

However, a statement from the Ligue de Football Professionnel, LFP, confirmed PSG’s request, also confirming that Nantes have already agreed to the fixture being postponed.
