Netflix Secures Global Streaming Rights to Mayweather–Pacquiao Rematch in Las Vegas

Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao will reignite one of boxing’s most lucrative rivalries in September, with Netflix securing global broadcast rights for the blockbuster rematch at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

The September 19 bout revisits their 2015 “Fight of the Century,” which generated a record 4.6 million pay-per-view buys and more than $600 million in revenue, the highest-grossing fight in boxing history. Mayweather reportedly earned around $300 million from that contest alone.

Now aged 49, Mayweather retired in 2017 with a flawless 50-0 professional record but has remained commercially active through exhibition bouts. He recently confirmed his return to sanctioned professional competition.

Pacquiao, 47, a former multi-division world champion, retired in 2021 before launching an unsuccessful presidential bid in the Philippines and returning to the ring last year.

“Floyd and I gave the world what remains the biggest fight in boxing history. The fans have waited long enough; they deserve this rematch,” Pacquiao said in a joint statement. Mayweather responded, “I already fought and beat Manny once. This time will be the same result.”

Beyond sporting rivalry, the rematch represents a significant commercial play. It will be the first professional boxing event staged at the technologically advanced Sphere, a venue that opened in 2023 and features a 160,000-square-foot wraparound interior screen designed for immersive entertainment experiences.
