Pogba set to play first match in 26 months

Paul Pogba will be included in Monaco’s squad to play Rennes this Saturday, as he prepares to make a return to competitive football.

ESPN reports that the plan is for Pogba to play a few minutes.

The 32-year-old last featured for 28 minutes on September 3, 2023, for Juventus against Empoli.

In August 2023, Pogba tested positive for DHEA and was subsequently suspended for four years in February 2024.

His punishment was eventually reduced to 18 months after an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Pogba trained normally with the squad on Thursday and will do so again on Friday.

If there are no issues from the session, the Frenchman will travel to Rennes.

The former Manchester United midfielder was due to play against Angers before the international break, but he suffered a small ankle injury in training and had to miss out.
