Southern Kaduna residents, under the aegis of Concerned Koro Youths in Kagarko local government area of Kaduna State, have cried out over renewed killings in the area, calling on relevant authorities to take urgent measures to arrest the situation.
The Southern Kaduna residents made the call in a statement signed by their chairman, Musa Haruna, on Tuesday.
“We, the concerned Koro youths, write with deep pain and a heavy heart to notify the Chairman of Kagarko Local Government Area, the Governor of Kaduna State, and the relevant security agencies about the gruesome murder of Bro. Gideon Markus Yero and the kidnapping of Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal of St. Stephen Parish, Gudu Kushe, in the early hours of Monday, 17th November 2025,” the statement said.
The residents explained that the incident happened at Gudu Kushe, close to Kubacha, in Kagarko LGA, and has thrown the entire community into fear, sorrow, and uncertainty.
The statement added, “The attackers invaded the peaceful community, took the life of a young and promising brother, and abducted a Catholic priest who was serving his people with dedication. The entire community remains traumatized as we continue to search for safety that no longer exists.
“We have suffered repeated attacks by armed Fulani bandits across Koro land for many years. These attacks have claimed lives, destroyed livelihoods, and destabilized our communities.
“The kidnapping of Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal is not the first time that a priest or community member has been abducted in Kushe and the surrounding Koro villages. Our people now live in constant fear because violence has become a recurring nightmare. Our land is bleeding.
Our hearts are broken. Our communities are losing hope.”
They called on the government to take immediate and decisive security measures in Koro land, especially in Gudu Kushe and its surrounding settlements, demanding the increased of security presence, active intelligence gathering, rapid response teams, and community collaboration to prevent further attacks.
“We do not want this situation to escalate. However, the continuous attacks, killings, and kidnappings are pushing our youth” to the limit. We fear that if urgent intervention does not come, the growing frustration may trigger actions that could lead our people into taking the law into their own hands—something we do not desire.”
The group appealed to the Chairman of Kagarko LGA, the Government of Kaduna State, the Nigeria Police, the Nigerian Army, the DSS, and all relevant agencies to act now, while requesting for immediate intervention to restore peace, protect lives, rescue the abducted priest, and prevent further tragedies.
“We remain peaceful, law-abiding citizens, but we can no longer remain silent as our people die helplessly,” the statement added.
