Yobe State Police Command said it has launched a manhunt for suspects who murdered a 16-year-old girl in Gashu’a town.
The Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
“On 16th November 2025, at about 0900hrs, a distress call was received at the Bade Divisional Police Headquarters from Mai Anguwa Idris Haruna of Dadin Kowa Ward.
“He reported that on the same date, Sadiya Suleiman, aged 16, of Sabon Gari Ward, was found in a pool of blood with her throat slit near the New Prison Fence, Gashu’a.
“Upon receipt of the report, detectives immediately mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victim to the Specialist Hospital, Gashu’a, where medical examination revealed that the victim was raped and brutally attacked before being killed,” the Command said.
According to the Command, investigation has since commenced with a view to identifying, tracing, and arresting the perpetrators behind this heinous crime.
It urged members of the community to assist the investigation by providing credible and timely information that may aid in apprehending the culprits.
The Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, condemned the act as barbaric, unacceptable, and deeply disturbing, assuring that the Command will deploy all necessary resources to ensure a swift arrest of the perpetrators and bring them to face the full weight of the law.
