A member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, said the party must be law-abiding and respect the rule of law.
News360 Info reports that George made the statement while responding to the controversy surrounding the party’s National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16.
Recall that the PDP has recently been engulfed in internal political wrangling, which has resulted in a split into two factions.
The faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is chaired by Abdulrahman Mohammed, while the other is chaired by Umar Damagum.
Also, Justice Peter Odo Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a final order preventing the party from proceeding with its 2025 National Convention, which is scheduled for Ibadan, Oyo State.
However, the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan also delivered a fresh ruling on Friday, directing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to proceed with its scheduled 2025 elective National Convention.
However, Bode George, during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television on Friday, said PDP cannot be a party that disobeys court judgment and wants to take over the reins of governance.
He said, “We (PDP) are a law-abiding organisation. Let us show to Nigerians that we believe in the rule of law.
“You cannot be a party disobeying court judgement and then you say you want to take over the reins of governance; let us obey the judgement of the court.”
