Troops rescue nine kidnapped victims in Kwara community

Nine kidnapped victims have reportedly been rescued by troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, based in Sobi, Kwara State, and deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Patigi, in Patigi Local Government Area of the state.

The victims were abducted from Matokun community in Patigi Local Government Area.

According to reliable security sources, the rescued victims have been handed over to the Patigi Local Government Council Chairman, represented by the Speaker, Mohammed Usman Alhaji.

The council has since conveyed the victims to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention and recovery.

The 22 Armoured Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Kwara State.

The brigade further assured residents that efforts to rescue all remaining kidnapped victims would continue until peace and stability are fully restored to the state, known as the State of Harmony.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Patigi Local Government, Mohammed Gana Alhaji expressed profound appreciation to the 22 Armoured Brigade troops for their relentless efforts in combating insecurity and safeguarding communities within the area.

On September 23, 2025, bandits launched a deadly attack on several villages in Patigi Local Government, killing a pregnant woman in Matokun community, leaving several others injured, and abducting eight residents.
