48 terrorists killed as army rescues 11 abducted victims from Boko Haram’s den

The Nigerian Army has revealed that 48 Boko Haram terrorists have been neutralized by troops of 28 Task Force Brigades of Sector under Operation Lafiya Dole in Borno State.

The feat was recorded in ambushes laid against the adversaries by the troops while acting on intelligence along the Chibok-Damboa axis as well as Askira-Chibok Main Supply Route both in Borno State.

A statement released on Saturday by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, indicated that eleven kidnapped victims were also rescued in the aftermath of the encounters.

“Nigerian Army troops deployed in Chibok under 28 Task Force Brigade of Sector 1 Operation LAFIYA DOLE have neutralized scores of Boko Haram terrorists in an ambush along Chibok – Damboa axis of Borno state.

The troops achieved the feat while acting on credible intelligence that some remnants of insurgents were fleeing due to the intensity of troops’ operations in Sambisa Forest.”

According to the statement, 15 AK 47 rifles and 4 magazines were among items recovered by the gallant troops during the operation.

“The gallant troops are presently dominating the area with aggressive patrols and are equally on a trail of fleeing terrorists in order to locate and neutralise them”, the statement says.

It also says, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru appreciates the gallantry and dexterity of the troops and urges them to remain dogged and maintain their offensive posture in all operations until the area is rid of all remnants of terrorists.

He (Army Chief) equally appreciates members of the public for their continuous support to the troops and enjoins them to continue to provide credible information to the troops and other security agencies operating within their localities.
