‘They did solid’ – Iwobi hails two Super Eagles players after debuts for Nigeria

Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has hailed two debutants, Emmanuel Fernandez and Chibuike Nwaiwu, after their first game for Nigeria.

The two defenders came off the bench in the second half of Nigeria’s 2-1 friendly victory over Iran in March, held in Antalya, Turkey.

Goals from Akor Adams and Moses Simon sealed the win for Eric Chelle’s side.

Reflecting on the match during an appearance on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast, Iwobi said, “Nice to get the win. Credit to Iran—they’re a good, solid team.

“Credit to us, we got the two goals we needed. Shout out to the two centre-backs who played the second half on their debuts.

“They did well—they did solid. It was a good performance. We won, and that gives us a confidence boost.”
