UCL: Salah surpasses Drogba, becomes first African player to score 50 goals

Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah, on Wednesday night, made history by becoming the first African player to score 50 UEFA Champions League goals, surpassing Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

The 33-year-old reached the landmark during Liverpool’s 4-0 win against Galatasaray in the Champions League Round of 16 second-leg tie.

The Egyptian captain secured his half-century in the 62nd minute with a signature curling strike into the top corner.

His record-breaking tally includes 47 goals for Liverpool, two for Basel, and one for AS Roma.

Salah has now officially surpassed Drogba’s previous African record of 44 goals.

He will now hope to extend his goal tally when Liverpool face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final stage in April.
