The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has declared a decisive crackdown on insecurity in the state, assuring residents that his administration will take firm measures to restore peace in affected communities.
The governor made this known in a statement signed by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev.
According to the statement, security personnel have been successfully deployed and reinforced in troubled communities in Kwande and other affected local government areas as part of efforts to address security challenges.
Alia said the latest deployment of security operatives marked the beginning of a broader strategy aimed at ending insecurity in the state.
He commended security agencies for their commitment and continued efforts toward stabilising communities affected by violent attacks.
News360 Info reports that the governor also assured residents that his administration was determined to pursue those responsible for the attacks and other security breaches across the state.
Alia stressed that individuals involved in acts of violence would be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He reaffirmed his government’s resolve to confront criminal elements threatening peace in Benue communities, noting that the safety of residents, their livelihoods and farmlands remained a priority.
The governor added that his administration would not be discouraged by attempts by criminal elements to destabilise communities across the state.
According to him, perpetrators of violence would ultimately face the full weight of the law.
The governor also reassured residents that his administration remained fully committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
Issuing a stern warning to criminals, Alia declared that his government would not be intimidated by those behind insecurity in Benue.
“Let this be a warning to all perpetrators of insecurity: Governor Alia will not be intimidated. I will not be deterred. I will crush insecurity in Benue State,” he said.
