EPL: Guardiola speaks on Arsenal being worst team to win title

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has hit out at critics who claim Arsenal would not be unworthy Premier League winners this season.

The Gunners are being criticized for their reliance on set-pieces, having scored 24 times from throw-ins, corner-kicks and free-kicks – the highest number in the league.

According to ex-Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes, Mikel Arteta’s men would be “the worst team to ever win the Premier League”.

But Guardiola has defended the right of managers to employ any style they want in a bid to win games.

He said: “Maybe, I’m not [in agreement] with the people saying ‘no, that the league is not good this season, the winner will not be good’. I don’t agree.”

City has scored 84.2% of their goals from open play compared to Arsenal’s 58.6%.
