Fire ravages residential building in Ibadan

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of fire that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan.

The incident occurred at Kosi Koro compound Oja-lgbo area of Ibadan on Saturday.

It was learnt that a six-room residential building was affected by the inferno.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.

He said that men of the Nigeria Police Force from Agudu Division were at the scene to provide security cover for his men.

He also disclosed that no life was lost.

Akinwande said that the fire incident was as a result of gas cooker unattended to.

“On getting to the scene, it was an ancient residential building of six rooms covered with flames and thick smoke.

“Our officers quickly swung into action and subdued and restricted the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings and properties.

“No casualty was recorded. The fire incident was as a result of gas cooker unattended to, ignited to the nearby combustibles and set the building on fire. The Nigeria Police Agugu Division was highly commendable for absolute security provided during the firefighting operation.”
