A Nigerian woman has shared a heartfelt story about learning early in her marriage that she would be unable to have children.
According to her, she was 28 when she found out her husband was impotent.
Despite the diagnosis, she said she chose to keep it a secret.
Whenever her mother asked why she hadn’t conceived, she would simply reply, “God’s time is the best,” never revealing the truth.
She said her mother eventually passed away without knowing what she had been carrying alone.
While she kept quiet, she claimed her mother-in-law made life difficult for her, insisting nothing was wrong with her son and placing all the blame on her.
She said she endured the accusations for years.
However, one day, she broke down and confronted her mother-in-law.
Instead of receiving understanding, she said she was labelled a bad wife for speaking up.
Now, at almost 46, she says she no longer aches for children.
Not because she didn’t want them.
But because, according to her, the simple right to decide whether she wanted children or not was taken from her.
