Fame without guidance is dangerous – Iyanya

Nigerian musician, Iyanya has explained how he has been able to maintain fame positively for 17 years.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, the singer revealed that he submits himself to guardianship, which keeps him in check.

He claimed that fame without guidance is “fake,” stressing that every entertainer or celebrity needs guidance to utilise their fame positively.

“I have been able to maintain fame positively for 17 years because of guidance. I advised my younger self not to take things personal because every famous person or entertainer needs guidance.

“You need one, two or three people in your life to help keep you grounded because everything is going to happen so fast and none of it is real. You’re going to walk into a President’s office, he’s going to know your name, he’s going to sing your song, but it’s not real.

“The same guy if you’re not popping two or three years later is not going to remember you. They will have to remind him about your meeting with him,” he expressed.

Iyanya advised other famous people to summit themselves to guidance and take counsel from the people in their lives.

He emphasised that such people would guide and give them moral support in every phase of their lives.
