Unacceptable, Deeply Troubling – Akpoti-Uduaghan Reacts To Kwara Massacre

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has described the massacre in Kwara State as disturbing and unacceptable.

News360 Info reports that Jihadists had stormed Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday night and murdered the residents.

It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the villages, opened fire on residents and burned homes.

According to reports, the death toll from the unfortunate incident hit 200 on Thursday night.

Reacting to the incident in a condolence message personally issued by her, in Abuja, she noted that the recurring bloodshed across the country has reached an intolerable level.

She urged governments at all levels to take decisive action to end the activities of bandits and other criminal elements.

Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims and the affected communities, warning that the persistent attacks pose a grave threat to national peace and stability.

“The persistent killings of innocent Nigerians are unacceptable and deeply troubling. My heart goes out to the families who have been plunged into grief by these senseless acts,” she said.

“Protecting lives and ensuring justice must be non-negotiable. The safety of our citizens should always be the highest priority of government.” Akpoti-Uduaghan stated.

The senator also stressed the need for coordinated and effective security measures to address the growing insecurity nationwide.

She further insisted that a swift and transparent investigation into the Kwara attacks is crucial to ensure accountability and rebuild public trust.

“Those responsible for these attacks must be identified and brought to justice without delay. Impunity only emboldens criminal elements and deeps the suffering of our people.

“These killings underscore the urgent need for a more effective and people-centred security architecture. Our communities deserve to live without fear,l and government at all levels must rise to this responsibility,” she added.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to advocating policies and interventions to strengthen security across Nigeria.
