New Atletico Madrid player Ademola Lookman, on Thursday, set a new record after scoring his first goal on his debut for the club.
Lookman was handed his first start by Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone after he joined the Spanish LaLiga giants in the January transfer window.
The Nigerian international featured as Atletico Madrid thrashed Real Betis 5-0 in the Copa del Rey quarter-final tie.
The 28-year-old scored a goal and also provided an assist as Atletico advanced to the Copa del Rey semi-final stage.
And according to OptaJose, Lookman became the first Atletico Madrid player to debut as a starter against a LaLiga opponent with a goal and an assist in any competition since the 2013/14 season.
The goal against Real Betis was also Lookman’s 100th career goal, while the assist was his 56th assist – for his seventh professional club.
Lookman has played for RB Salzburg, Atalanta, Leicester City, Fulham and Everton in the past.
