El-Rufai Joins ADC In Kaduna

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), months after cutting ties with the ruling All Progressives Congress.

News360 Info reports that the former governor on Thursday registered with the ADC at the party’s office in U/Sarki Ward, Kaduna, where he also received and collected his membership card.

El-Rufai was seen signing entry documents before collecting the ADC membership card, marking his transition into the opposition party with grassroots visibility.

Recall that on March 10, 2025, El-Rufai publicly explained that a widening gap between his principles and the direction of APC leadership triggered his exit.

In his resignation letter, seen by Naija News, he accused the APC leadership of abandoning its founding identity.

“Developments in the last two years confirm that there is no desire on the part of those who currently control and run the APC to acknowledge, much less address the unhealthy situation of the party,” El-Rufai had stated.

El-Rufai, who played a central role in shaping the 2013 opposition merger that formed APC, also criticised the party for losing its compass.

He recalled the movement that birthed the party, noting that today’s structure does not reflect its founders’ ideals.

The former governor reaffirmed that his warnings, delivered internally and in public forums, were ignored by APC leaders in the last two years.
