The All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leaders in Oyo State have asked Governor Seyi Makinde to begin preparing his handover note, insisting that residents are ready for a new leadership direction ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
News360 Info reports that the charge was issued during a press briefing at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, where the State APC Youth Leader, Comrade John Aremu, said young party members were already mobilising to wrest power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Aremu accused the current administration of stalling Oyo’s progress through poor governance and inefficiency.
According to him, “The present government has held Oyo State in bondage, and the people are tired. APC youths are ready to deliver the political change the state urgently needs.”
He said the ruling party should brace for its exit as the APC youth wing is preparing to take charge of the state’s leadership.
The youth leader stressed that the next phase of Oyo’s development would be youth-driven, with emerging leaders positioned to offer a more progressive direction.
Aremu declared, “The ruling party should prepare for its eventual exit. Progressive young leaders are ready to assume responsibility.”
Speaking on internal party dynamics, Aremu said the reconciliation between former governorship candidate Senator Teslim Folarin and the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, was a major boost to the party’s unity.
He noted that the renewed cooperation among top APC stakeholders signals a stronger, more cohesive front ahead of the next election cycle.
Aremu revealed that the forthcoming APC Youth Summit would be pivotal in repositioning the party’s youth wing ahead of 2027.
The summit, he explained, will focus on restructuring party units, mobilising grassroots support, and fostering alignment among young members behind a shared vision.
He added that a comprehensive youth-driven roadmap will be unveiled, featuring digital advocacy, political mobilisation, community engagement projects, and issue-based campaigns designed to reclaim Oyo State.
Aremu emphasised that young APC leaders are prepared to spearhead the transformation needed to advance Oyo’s development.
“The future of Oyo must be planned today,” he said, reaffirming the youth wing’s commitment to shaping the state’s next political chapter.
