Trafficked 15-year-old Nigerian rescued in Ghana

Ghana police have successfully rescued a 15-year-old Nigerian girl who was lured from Enugu with a fake job offer and then forced into prostitution in Ghana.

A statement by the head of the public affairs unit of the western central regional Police, Beatrice Turkson revealed the investigation began after the victim’s father, Ogbonna Onuigbo, reported his daughter missing in October 2025. The case became critical on October 24, 2025, when the girl managed to call her father, revealing she had been trafficked and abused.

“Police investigations indicated that one Golden Blessing, who is currently on the run, lured the victim from Enugu to Lagos under the pretext of offering her a cleaning job and later handed her over to Joy Ogbonna, who transported her to Tarkwa.” The statement revealed.

Upon arrival, Ogbonna reportedly confined the victim, forced her into sex work, and collected the proceeds. A “helpful passer-by” was instrumental in helping the victim contact her father, leading to the rescue.

The statement further revealed a medical report confirmed the teenager was five weeks pregnant at the time of her rescue.

Turkson revealed Joy Ogbonna is currently in police custody and will be arraigned soon. She assured authorities are working to apprehend her alleged accomplice, Golden Blessing, who is believed to be in Nigeria.
