Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the arrest and detention of Regina Daniels’ younger brother, Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West.

News360 Info reports that the former presidential candidate accused Senator Ned Nwoko and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of orchestrating the young man’s imprisonment at the Keffi Prison in Nasarawa State.

Sammy West was reportedly arrested in Lagos on November 4 by security operatives allegedly linked to Nwoko.

He was later transferred to Abuja and arraigned before a Dutse Magistrate Court on November 6 without legal representation.

The court ordered his remand in Keffi Prison until November 28.

Family members claimed he was denied access to legal aid and kept incommunicado following his arrest.

They also alleged that the move was part of an ongoing personal dispute between Nwoko and Regina Daniels.

The actress had earlier raised concerns over her brother’s whereabouts, while her siblings, Lawrence and Sweezzy, accused Nwoko of using his political influence to detain Sammy.

Sowore described the situation as an act of tyranny and called for the immediate withdrawal of the charges against Sammy West and his unconditional release.

He wrote on Facebook: “I have again been informed that the so-called criminal billionaire and APC Senator, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, has used his influence working hand-in-glove with the illegal Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to have a young man unjustly imprisoned at the notorious Keffi prison. The victim in this latest act of tyranny is Samuel Ojeogwu aka “Sammy West,” the younger brother of Nwoko’s now-estranged wife, Regina Daniels.

“It is deeply unfortunate that the unholy alliance of impunity between Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, sections of the Nigeria Police Force, and some pliant magistrates continues to thrive despite our persistent challenge to their lawlessness. I therefore call on the Nigeria Police Force authorities to immediately put an end to this brigandage and to release Sammy West forthwith by withdrawing the bogus charges leveled against him.”
