Nigeria targets 4000mw renewable energy manufacturing capacity

The Nigerian government has announced plans to deliver a 4,000-megawatt renewable manufacturing capacity across participating states in the country.

This was disclosed in a communique released after a meeting of the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum.

According to the communique, the move is part of the implementation of the Nigeria First policy in the power sector.

The initiative is pioneered by the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, with a goal to achieve 50 per cent local content within three years.

“This partnership aims to deliver 4000 MW of renewable energy manufacturing capacity to catalyse value-chain development across participating states.”

The move is part of the fallout from the NREIF Forum meeting held on 14-15th October 2025 in Abuja, chaired by Vice President Kasim Shettima.
