EPL: ‘I can’t stand it, you’ve killed Premier League’ – O’Hara slams Arsenal

Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Jamie O’Hara, has slammed Arsenal, describing Mikel Arteta’s side as boring.

He said that the north London side reliance on set-pieces has ‘killed the Premier League.’

Arsenal are ahead of other teams in the Premier League with a three point gap and sitting second to Manchester City.

Arsenal’s only defeat this season was handed them by Liverpool, which the Reds got through Dominik Szoboszlai’s dramatic late free-kick.

Arsenal beat Fulham last weekend at Craven Cottage and would now be desperate to tighten their grip on top spot.

Already this term, ten of the Gunners’ 15 goals in the Premier League have come from set-pieces.

Speaking about this on Sky Sports News, former Premier League side O’Hara said the north London side have killed Premier League football in terms of ‘fluidity’.

“I can’t stand it, I hate it. It’s killing the game, especially the Premier League, the product,” O’Hara said when asked about the rise of long throw-ins.

“It’s like watching non-league at the moment, some of the football I’m watching.

“The top teams doing throw-ins? I can’t believe what I’m watching.

“It’s all down to Arsenal, Arsenal started this. Arsenal started the long throw, the set-pieces. They’ve killed the Premier League in terms of fluid football and enjoyable football.”

“They don’t, they don’t [play attractive football]

“Arsenal are the best at it, set-pieces and throw-ins, Arsenal are the best.

“But everyone is now copying what they’re doing and they can’t do it like that. Everyone is trying to do it and it’s so one-dimensional.

“But it’s so boring to watch and it’s so non-league. This is the Premier League we’re talking about and you’re meant to be the best of the best.”
