Tyson Fury Wants Third Fight With Usyk, Not Anthony Joshua – Promoter

Tyson Fury is setting his sights on a third clash with Oleksandr Usyk rather than the long-awaited all-British fight with Anthony Joshua, his promoter Frank Warren has revealed.

Warren confirmed that the former WBC heavyweight champion is eager to return to the ring next year, with his main focus on getting revenge against Usyk, who handed him the only two defeats of his professional career.

“The fight he really wants is another go with Mr Usyk; he really wants that,” Warren told Sky Sports. “And they were great fights, really close fights, to watch. I’d watch that again. That’s the fight he wants. That’s the one he talks about all the time.”

Fury, 36, briefly retired again in January but has been training privately since then. He lost both fights to Usyk in 2024, first being pushed to the brink of a stoppage before suffering a second narrow points defeat in their rematch.

Despite the setbacks, Warren dismissed suggestions that the Morecambe-born fighter is finished, saying Fury still has plenty left in him.

“He hasn’t got a lot of miles on the clock. He’s nobody’s fool, he’s a very smart guy, he knows better than you and me what he’s got left,” Warren said. “He’s a fighting man, and if he decides that he’s going to move forward and do it, he’ll do it. He’s not a stupid guy who’s clutching at straws.”

Fury’s focus on Usyk means British fans may have to keep waiting for the blockbuster fight with Joshua that has been talked about for nearly a decade. The two heavyweight rivals have been linked since the mid-2010s, but repeated negotiations and public callouts have failed to produce a bout.

Both fighters have taken separate paths to world titles and global fame, yet the dream of an all-British showdown continues to fade as they near the twilight of their careers.
