Bruno Fernandes clears air on leaving Man Utd for Saudi Arabia end of season

Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes has ruled out any possibility of leaving Old Trafford for a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season.

The Portugal midfielder also insisted that he remains ‘happy’ for the time being at Man United.

Fernandes is enjoying his sixth full season with the Red Devils this season.

But there were times when his future at the Premier League club appeared in serious doubt during the summer transfer window.

Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal were heavily linked and reportedly offered Fernandes eye-watering wages of £700,000-a-week in an attempt to lure him away from Man United.

Even Al-Nassr was also credited with a strong interest in the 31-year-old.

Asked about the latest rumours of a possible transfer to Saudi Arabia ahead of Portugal’s World Cup qualifier with the Republic of Ireland on Saturday night, Fernandes told reporters: “That is an impossible scenario to imagine.

“I have no idea if there is any truth to it.

I don’t know if I will play [for Portugal] tomorrow, much less if I will play outside of Manchester in a year.

“It’s not something that worries me. I’m happy where I am; otherwise, I would not have stayed,” he added.
