Gov Okpebholo Approves Payment Of ₦17 Million Debt Owed Edo Principals By Previous Administration

The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo has approved the payment of over ₦17 million uniform debt from the previous administration to the executive principals of senior secondary schools, Edo State.

The government announced the development in a statement made available to Naija News on Friday.

The approval comes after a committee of executive principals from selected government schools visited the Senior Secondary Education Board (SSEB) to appeal for the refund of the sum of over ₦17 million.

‎The committee, led by Executive Principal of Egor Senior Secondary School, Onaifo Osemwengie, explained that former consultant to the ministry of education, Chinelo Ezeobi under the former administration established a uniform committee on the directives from former Education Commissioner Dr. Joan Oviawe, who later dissolved the committee, and over 17 million naira remained unpaid to the principals

‎While appreciating the executive principals for their patience, the Executive Chairman of SSEB, Dr. Maureen Ekhoragbon thanked the Executive Governor, Senator Monday for approving the sum.

‎She described the Governor as a leader with excellence, transparency, and accountability.

‎The executive principals thanked the chairman for listening to their plight.
