Man arrested in Jigawa for alleged stealing of ambulance from Niger Republic

Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Jigawa State have arrested a young man accused of stealing an ambulance from the Republic of Niger and trying to drive it into Nigeria.

The NIS Comptroller in Jigawa, Tahir Abdullahi Musa, confirmed the arrest to journalists in Dutse.

He said the suspect, identified as Yusif Bashir, was caught with a Toyota Land Cruiser ambulance with registration number ONG-0777 while attempting to cross into Nigeria through the Babura border.

“The suspect was intercepted with the stolen ambulance while entering Nigeria from Niger Republic through Babura,” Musa said.

He explained that the NIS has started making arrangements to hand over the suspect and the vehicle to the police for further investigation.

“We are preparing to hand him over to the police for a thorough investigation,” he added.

Musa also stated that the Immigration Service would continue to work closely with other security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and property across Jigawa State.

“The Service will keep strengthening its collaboration with other security agencies to safeguard lives and property in the state,” he assured.
