‘Who’ll give me passes now’ – Messi reacts as Jordi Alba announces retirement

Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has sent a message to his teammate Jordi Alba following the defender’s announcement of his retirement from professional football.

Alba’s decision to retire from football came just less than two weeks after teammate Sergio Busquets took the same step.

The Spaniard had on Tuesday taken to his Instagram account to announce that he would hang up his boots at the end of the current season.

“Thank you, football, thank you so much,” Alba wrote.

Commenting on Alba’s post, Messi thanked the left-back, insisting that he would miss him.

“Thanks to you, Jordi. I am going to miss you so much. After so much time together, it’s going to be weird to look to the left and not see you there.

“Crazy how many assists you gave me all these years… Who’s gonna give me back passes now???” Messi wrote
