Why Ronaldo And Rooney Boxing Match Is Not A Bad Idea – Boxing Coach, Malik Scott Says

Rooney and Ronaldo were teammates at Manchester United but Scott said he would love to see the football legends step into the ring for a bout.

Malik Scott, former coach to boxing champion Deontay Wilder, has told England legend Wayne Rooney that a bout with Cristiano Ronaldo would be a “global event.”

Rooney and Ronaldo were teammates at Manchester United but Scott said he would love to see the football legends step into the ring for a bout.

Ronaldo is now 40-year-old but is still very much active in football wearing the colours of Saudi Pro League side, Al-Nassr.

For Rooney, the 39-year-old has since retired from playing football and has worked as manager at various club sides.

The former England international is now into punditry and is known to be a huge boxing fan, as is Ronaldo.

Scott said Rooney vs Ronaldo would be great for the sport.

“Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Wayne Rooney would bring more eyes to boxing, and I’m all for it,”
Wilder’s former boxing coach Scott told CanadaCasino.

“Any time boxing gets more attention, it’s a good thing. I want people to enjoy the spectacle, not just critique it

“Just enjoy the carnival. It would be a global event because these are high-level names that would draw huge numbers.”

Rooney recently expressed his love for his former teammate Ronaldo, pointing out that many people, especially fans of the Portuguese football icon think they are not in good terms but insisted that he has no issues with the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The first time both players ever clashed was during the World Cup in 2006, when Ronaldo was accused of influencing Rooney’s red card during a quarter-final tie against England.
