Video: “If We Don’t Want Rivers State Emergency To Be Lifted, We Would Have Done One Or Two Things” – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that peace has been fully restored to Rivers State, and all stakeholders are now ready to work together.
He assured that even though some people who are benefiting from the crisis which rocked Rivers State don’t want peace to return, other stakeholders have resolved to allow peace to reign in the oil-rich state.

Wike assured that he is fully in support of the peace process and complete restoration of democracy in Rivers State, noting that if he didn’t want the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in the state to end, he could have done one or two things to ensure it continues.

News360 Info reports that Wike made the submission on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television.

The FCT Minister revealed that he and Governor Siminalayi Fubara have spoken after President Tinubu lifted the emergency rule in Rivers State and peace has now fully returned.

“We all met and agreed on how to move forward and to the glory of God, as I speak to you, peace returned. As of yesterday, I spoke to the Governor, so I can tell you, against all odds, peace has returned.

“As I speak to you, as of yesterday, I spoke to the Governor (Fubara). I told him I was leaving that night to come back, and he told me he was leaving this morning.

“So, I can tell you that, by the grace of God, peace has returned. And look at what the Assembly did today to set the tone — you can see peace; you can see we are prepared, for the interest of the state. Let’s move forward.

“I was watching on television today, there are people who are natural crisis builders who think they can only benefit when there is a crisis. If we don’t want this state of emergency to be lifted, we would have done one or two things to ensure that the it continues,” he said.
