Borno: NAF airstrikes kill scores of terrorists, destroy insurgent enclave

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has intensified its counter-terrorism operations in the North East, neutralising scores of terrorists and destroying their hideouts in Borno State.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, the precision strikes were executed by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (AC OPHK) on Wednesday, September 17, at about 10:50 a.m.

Ejodame said the airstrikes followed intelligence and surveillance reports, which confirmed unusual movements at Bula Madibale in the Gezuwa general area.

He revealed that about 45 terrorists, some on motorcycles and bicycles, had converged at the location, where two flags associated with the insurgents were also sighted.
“Acting on this credible intelligence, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai launched a coordinated air interdiction.

“The strikes achieved devastating impact, eliminating several terrorists at the gathering point, while the flagged structure and other hostile assets at the location were destroyed,” the statement read in part.
The NAF spokesman added that the operation highlights the military’s resolve to deny terrorists the freedom to regroup, reinforce, or mount further attacks on communities in the region.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces to restoring peace and stability, particularly in the North East.
