Fresh fire guts another four-storey plaza on Lagos Island

A fresh fire incident erupted on Tuesday night at Emab Plaza, a four-storey commercial building situated behind Mandilas on Lagos Island.

The outbreak, which was reported around 9:00 p.m., triggered a swift response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, with fire crews from the Ebute Elefun and Oniru stations immediately deployed to the scene.

Although the exact cause of the inferno has not yet been determined, eyewitnesses disclosed that the flames originated from the fourth floor before spreading to adjoining sections of the building.

Providing an update at about 10:00 p.m., Deputy Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Olajide Ogabi, confirmed that firefighting and rescue operations were still in progress.

The incident comes just hours after another blaze engulfed a six-storey building at Marina on Lagos Island earlier in the day, where eight trapped occupants were successfully rescued.
