‘I Never Betrayed Wike’ – Tambuwal

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has dismissed insinuations of betraying the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during the presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022.
Recall that during the PDP primary election, Tambuwal stepped down and supported former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, a move that led to Atiku emerging as the party’s flagbearer.

News360 Info reports that Tambuwal, while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, stated that he never betrayed Wike, describing him as a friend.

According to him, Wike was aware that he was also contesting in the primary election.

He said, “If Atiku comes in here today and Wike comes in here and requests for this my phone, my personal phone, I will give it to Wike because he is my friend.

“I never betrayed Wike, my friend met me in the presidential convention then. He gave me the indication that he would run and he knew that I was running.

“It’s not betrayal, when you say betrayal is when you have an understanding and you go against the understanding.”

In other news, former spokesperson of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has accused Wike of imposing his will on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He accused the PDP of zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to Wike, adding that the FCT Minister now believes his words have become law in the party.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Friday, Okonkwo asserted that Wike is now openly working against the party.
