The camp of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is on course to liberate itself from what it described as “satanic infiltrations” with the forthcoming national convention.
The response came after loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, under the banner of Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP, warned that the convention would be “invalid” if their conditions were ignored.
Among their demands, the Wike group insisted that while they were satisfied with the zoning arrangement adopted by the NEC, the National Working Committee (NWC) must avoid micro-zoning, stressing that the office of National Chairman should remain in the North-Central in line with the 2021 convention formula.
But speaking with Punch on Tuesday, the Publicity Secretary of the Oyo PDP, Micheal Ogunsina, aligned with the party’s national secretariat and dismissed Wike’s camp as inconsequential to the process.
He described the November 15–16 convention in Ibadan as a “done deal” that no force could stop.
“The PDP has dared Nyesom Wike to do what he can do. There is no forever champion anywhere. How did those before him end? The November 15 and 16 convention in Ibadan is a done deal. No force can stop it,” Ogunsina declared.
The Oyo PDP spokesman further maintained that the convention would produce new leaders who would reset the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
“New leaders will emerge from the convention to set the party on the right footing; all satanic infiltrations will be sent packing, and PDP will be set free,” he said.
