PDP Governors In Closed-door Meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors are currently in a closed-door meeting at the Zamfara State Government House, Gusau.
News360 Info reports that the meeting precedes the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled for Monday.

The reason for the meeting could not be ascertained, immediately, but it may not be unconnected with the recent leadership crisis rocking the party.

Zoning of the 2027 presidential ticket is one of the major decisions expected to be made at the meeting, as there are three options before the party: zoning the presidential ticket to the South, throwing it open or zoning it to the North.

However, major stakeholders are in favour of zoning it to the South, arguing that the South still have four years left.

Meanwhile, PDP chieftain, Olabode George, has warned members against the party’s progress to leave.

He gave the warning during an appearance on Arise Television on Friday.

The elder statesman stated that the party would no longer tolerate internal sabotage.

He challenged PDP’s dissenters, asking them to ship themselves out if they are progress terminators.

George charged PDP to take decisive action against members undermining its unity to remain a credible opposition force ahead of its next national convention.

He added that the zoning committee established by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) was mandated to review leadership arrangements across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.

The former deputy national chairman of the party maintained that what was initially planned as a non-elective convention had been converted to an elective one because of internal crises and the resignation of some key officials.
