Armed men open fire, leave one dead, another wounded in Plateau

Armed men have attacked two villagers in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing one and leaving another badly injured.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama shared the development in a post on X on Friday, saying the gunmen struck along the Margif–Kopmur Road at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The victims were identified as Michael Lontukun from Njin Kopmur village in Mushere West, and Stephen David from Kopmur village in Margif Ward.

Witnesses said the attackers opened fire on them without warning.

“Lontukun died instantly, while David sustained gunshot injuries,” Makama wrote.

Troops of the Nigerian Army and the Sector 5 Commander of the Special Task Force (STF) later moved to the scene in response to the incident.

The wounded victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Horop for treatment, while the family of the deceased have claimed his body for burial after declining an autopsy.
