‘May God Deliver Kemi Badenoch From Whatever Traumatized Her In Nigeria’ – Dele Momodu

Nigerian journalist, Dele Momodu, has reacted to comments by UK lawmaker, Kemi Badenoch, about her difficult upbringing and time spent in a Nigerian boarding school.

News360 Info reports that Badenoch, who leads the UK Conservative Party and represents Saffron Walden in Parliament, had described her time at a Federal Government Girls’ College in Sagamu as traumatic.

She likened the experience to being in prison, pointing to harsh conditions, poor sanitation, lack of water, and manual labour such as cutting grass with machetes.

Dele Momodu, while reacting, expressed concern over what he described as a repeated pattern of Badenoch speaking negatively about Nigeria.

While acknowledging her personal achievements, the publisher questioned the motivation behind her constant criticism of her country of origin.

He wrote on his X account on Tuesday morning: “I truly and genuinely love MADAM KEMI for her personal accomplishments but I often shudder, feverishly, at her unfortunate denigration of Nigeria at every opportunity… May God almighty deliver her from whatever might have traumatized her so much while growing up in Nigeria…”

In other news, Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, stirred anger online after threatening to kill a social media user and his family.

News360 INfo reports that the threat came in response to a comment made to his mother, Hadiza El-Rufai.

Hadiza had made some remarks on the U.S. travel ban that affected Nigeria and three other African countries.

The former first lady tweeted that many Nigerians doing well abroad are of Igbo origin.

While some agreed with her, others lashed out, prompting her to respond that online abuse would not silence her.
