The Abia State Police Command has apprehended a man who was seen roaming the streets of Umuahia with a machete and threatening residents.
The arrest followed a public outcry after a video of the man’s disturbing behaviour circulated online.
A concerned resident, who captured the incident on video, reported that the man became aggressive and issued threats upon realising he was being filmed.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, in a post on X.com confirmed that the man, believed to be of unsound mind, has been arrested.
She wrote, “The Abia State Police Command was alerted about a young man, suspected to be of unsound mind, seen roaming the streets in Umuahia with a machete.
“The DPO Central Police Station Umuahia was alerted and has confirmed that the individual was apprehended and disarmed.”
