Buhari’s Ex-Aide Claims Politicians Are Lobbying Jonathan To Contest In 2027

A former presidential aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has alleged that some political actors are lobbying former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Ahmad, made the claim in a post on his official handle on Monday, warning that the move appears driven by political convenience rather than genuine plans for national development.

He said, “From all indications, there are ongoing subtle moves by certain political elements trying to convince former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest again in 2027.

“They calculate that his candidacy will be easy to market in the North under the guise that he would only serve a single term.”

The former presidential aide, however, expressed concern over the underlying motive for Jonathan’s potential return, arguing that the North should not be used as a stepping stone for power rotation.

“The troubling part is that this push is not rooted in what he would offer the North or the country at large, but merely in political convenience and power rotation. The North deserves more than being used as a political ladder,” he stated.

News360 Info understands that politicians under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been considering pushing Jonathan or former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, in the forthcoming presidential election.
