Bandits attack Katsina village, kill vigilantes, abduct residents

Several persons, including vigilantes and civilians, were killed on Wednesday afternoon when armed bandits attacked Gidan Gona village in Tafoki district, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Security sources confirmed that the attack led to a fierce gun duel between the assailants and members of the Community Watch Corps, CWC, and local vigilantes. Some operatives and villagers were reportedly killed during the exchange, while others sustained injuries.

The attackers also abducted an unspecified number of residents before fleeing into the bush.

According to a post on Thursday by security analyst Bakatsine via X:

“Yesterday afternoon, bandits attacked Gidan Gona village in Tafoki district, Faskari LGA, Katsina State. A fierce gun battle with Vigilantes and CWC left several operatives and civilians dead, some injured and many abducted,” the post read.
