Anambra PDP Guber Candidate Battling For Life In Abuja Hospital

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Jude Ezenwafor, for the forthcoming Anambra State election, is reportedly battling for life at a hospital in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

News360 Info reports that Ezenwafor survived an assassination attempt on his life in Abuja on Friday night when gunmen suspected to be assassins attacked and shot him.

Ezenwafor was subsequently admitted to an undisclosed private hospital in the nation’s capital for medical treatment.

Reports of the Anambra PDP candidate’s death had emerged online on Sunday.

However, a source confirmed to Daily Post that Ezenwafor is currently in critical condition.

Speaking on the development, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the Command has launched an investigation into the attack.

Meanwhile, the PDP has condemned the assassination attempt on Ezenwafor.

In a statement on Sunday, July 20, 2025, through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP stated that certain interests, who are uncomfortable with Ezenwafor’s growing popularity ahead of the November election, are desperate to prevent him from participating in the upcoming poll.

The PDP also stated that the attack on Ezenwafor is another sad commentary on the alarming level of insecurity in the country under the overtly insensitive, corrupt and abysmally rudderless All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

The PDP charged the Inspector General of Police to immediately apprehend the assailants and their sponsors, while also beefing up security around Ezenwafor ahead of the election.
