Nigerian disc jockey, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, popularly known as DJ Switch, has described the death of former president Muhammadu Buhari as the “sweet reality of inevitability.”
Shortly after the news of Buhari’s death broke on Sunday, July 13, 2025, DJ Switch took to her Instagram story with a brief post that read: “Wow! The sweet reality of inevitability. RIP MF. One down…”
News360 Info reports that her comment sparked backlash online.
In response to the criticism, the activist released a lengthy video message, defending her post and addressing those who sent her private messages.
She explained that her post was not about celebrating death, but about acknowledging that everyone, regardless of power or influence, must one day die.
She questioned claims about Buhari’s achievements, insisting that his leadership left many Nigerians poor, hungry, and unprotected.
She argued that the late president lived long and accessed quality healthcare abroad using national resources, privileges many ordinary citizens could not afford.
“Buhari achieved what? Please. He achieved what? He achieved what? And with what? With our resources? With our money? What did he achieve? Oh, you don’t realize that he lived long because of our resources? Do you know how many people are dying in Nigeria? Do you know how many people are starving in Nigeria because they don’t have national cake to steal from? They don’t have national cake to go get quality treatment abroad.
“And yeah, with all of that stuff, all of the stuff that they’ve stolen, that they keep stealing, they are less likely to be attacked by police or armed robbers on the road when they are riding around with heavy security. Please tell me what Buhari has achieved, apart from destroying lives and killing Nigerians”, she said.
