An Air Peace flight operating from Lagos to Port Harcourt on Sunday morning experienced a runway excursion upon landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The airline, in a statement signed by its spokesperson Osifo-Whiskey Efe, confirmed that Flight P47190 landed safely before veering slightly off the runway. The incident occurred without damage to the aircraft.
“All passengers disembarked safely and calmly. No injuries were reported,” the statement read.
Air Peace assured the public of its ongoing commitment to safety, stating, “We reassure the flying public of our unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations.”
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has not yet issued a formal statement regarding Sunday’s incident.
In May, an earlier Air Peace flight was grounded at the Asaba International Airport after colliding with a large antelope while taxiing, which caused disruption to scheduled flights.
Following that incident, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, noted that such occurrences, though sometimes outside an airline’s control, still require full compliance with passenger protection obligations.
