Coalition: You Can’t Serve Two Masters, Bode George Tells Atiku, PDP Members

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has criticised some of the party’s chieftains in the vanguard of the opposition coalition on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The PDP chieftain warned Atiku and some other members of the PDP who haven’t renounced their membership of the PDP despite being members of the ADC coalition that they can’t serve two masters.

“You can’t serve two masters, as stated in the Holy Book. You either serve A or you serve B. But to say you are in A and B is a fallacy,” George said on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Friday.

He accused ADC Chairman David Mark and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of being some of the architects of the crisis that rocked the PDP.

George said the ADC coalition can’t become a solid opposition platform as the PDP because, according to him, the coalition lacked strategy and concept.

The PDP chieftain said, “It is nothing but existential imbecility. Or sometimes what is called existential docility. What is it that they are all going there?

“This is your father’s house. The house made you, brought you to the limelight. You gain every laurel and recognition from this same house. And because there is a little crisis, is leaving the cultural thing to do? No, you sit in there.

“If you have a house that is leaking, do you run out? No, you are the landlord.

“Do they have a concept? What is the strategy they have? That is a classless strategy.”

George said some of the members of the ADC Coalition were part of those who instigated the crisis within the PDP.

“When we had the last convention, General Buhari had just finished eight years. Then Atiku Abubakar wanted to compete (but) we said no; a northern had just finished eight years. We had (Peter) Obi in the South. This was the beginning of the crisis.

“David Mark was the chairman of that convention, and Iyorchia Ayu was the chairman of the party. Of course, you cannot do things like that and get away with it. I warned against it at that point,” he said.

Leaders and members of the opposition coalition had on Wednesday met in Abuja and announced the ADC as the platform to unseat President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 election.

They selected former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola as interim National Chairman and Secretary, respectively.

Aside from Atiku, opposition bigwigs at the unveiling include ex-Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Rivers governor Rotimi Amaechi, Dino Melaye, Solomon Dalong, Dele Momodu, Gabriel Suswam, Ireti Kingibe, Emeka Ihedioha, and Sadique Abubakar.
