Two killed, others injured as bandits attack Kwara community

Two persons have been confirmed dead while several others sustained injuries after a violent confrontation between vigilante operatives and suspected bandits in the Edogi area of the Lafiagi axis, Kwara State.

The clash resulted in gunshot wounds to four persons, including members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, identified as Mohammed Ndagi, Saidu Jiya and Philips John.

A civilian identified as Babangida Daniel, who was passing by during the incident, was also injured in the crossfire.

All the victims were promptly taken to the General Hospital in Lafiagi for emergency medical attention.

The VGN Commander, Mohammed Yatsu, and Babangida Daniel were pronounced dead upon arrival by medical personnel.

The remaining injured victims have since been transferred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, for future medical care.

ASP Sado Sunday, who was said to be part of the security operation, has been declared missing, with search and rescue efforts currently ongoing.

Security operatives have launched an investigation and are working to apprehend the attackers while taking steps to ensure the restoration of peace in the affected community.
