A lifeless body of a boy has been discovered by the Gombe State Police Command near ‘Harin Kwarin Misau’ in Gombe metropolis, following a heavy rainfall recorded on Sunday evening.
DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the command’s spokesman, in a statement, explained that the lifeless body of the young boy was found lying at a gully erosion site near the ‘Hayin Kwarin Misau’ quarters, who was approximately 15 years old.
According to the spokesman, the Officer-in-Charge of ‘Hayin Kwari Misau’ outstation reported that the boy was suspected to have drowned as a result of the heavy rainfall that occurred Sunday night.
Abdullahi said, “upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives visited the scene to recover the body.”
He added that preliminary examination of the body revealed no signs of injury or violence and no means of identification was found on the deceased, stressing that photographs of the scene were taken, and the body was carefully evacuated to the Specialist Hospital Gombe, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
According to the PPRO, efforts are currently ongoing to ascertain the identity of the deceased and trace his relatives, saying that further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
Abdullahi, then, called on members of the public who may have any information that could assist in identifying the deceased or reaching his family to kindly come forward or contact the nearest police station.
