Killers of our sons in Benue must face justice – Kano Governor

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has condemned the brutal killings of two young Kano indigenes, Barhama Suleiman and Jamilu Ahmad, who tragically lost their lives in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.

Describing the incident as “barbaric, senseless, and utterly unacceptable,” Governor Yusuf expressed profound sorrow and outrage.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the victims were ambushed late at night by unidentified assailants without any provocation, resulting in their untimely demise.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely passing of two promising sons of Kano.

“They were law-abiding citizens whose only ‘crime’ was exercising their constitutional right to live and work anywhere in Nigeria,” Governor Yusuf lamented.

In honor of the deceased, Governor Yusuf announced his intention to lead a high-level delegation, including the victims’ families, to their funeral prayers scheduled for today at the National Mosque in Abuja.

Expressing condolences to the bereaved families and renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, father of the slain men, Governor Yusuf described the loss as a tragic blow not only to the families but also to Kano State and the entire nation.

“This administration will relentlessly pursue justice. We urge for calm and restraint as we strive to ensure that those responsible face the full consequences of their actions,” the statement stated.
