Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi has admitted he is not friends with Cristiano Ronaldo, but described their relationship as “normal”.
Messi, in an interview with DSsports, claimed their rivalry ended on the pitch, as they tried to help their respective teams win.
The two footballers have played on the opposite sides of the famous El Clasico divide between Barcelona and Real Madrid in Spain.
But Ronaldo currently plies his trade in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr, while Messi is in the MLS.
“The competition with him was on the pitch.
“Obviously, as always, everything stayed on the field. Off the pitch, we are two normal people.
“We are not friends, we don’t spend time together. But we have always treated each other with respect,” Messi said.
