India plane crash: British High Commission provides updates

The British High Commission in India said it is working with local authorities to urgently establish facts about the London-bound plane that crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport on Thursday.

News360 Info earlier reported that the crashed Air India flight lost signal shortly after it left Ahmedabad airport.

The plane had 53 British citizens, 169 Indians, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian on board.

According to the Indian Express, only one person, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, survived of the 242 passengers on board to the UK, while 241 persons are feared dead.

Reacting, the British High Commission said in a short statement on its X account, wrote: “We are aware that a flight from Ahmedabad to London has crashed near Ahmedabad airport.

“We are working with local authorities to urgently establish the facts and provide support.

“Our thoughts are with all those affected.”

Meanwhile, Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister, had expressed sadness over the devastating incident.
