Landlady’s daughter breaks into tenant’s house, steals household items worth N1m

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old, Nana Mubarak, daughter of a landlady, for allegedly stealing household items worth N1 million from a tenant’s residence in El-Waziri area, Minna.

The state Police Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun made this disclosure in Minna said the command received information on the matter on the 30th of May, 2025 on the matter.

The PRO explained that the tenant who resides at El-Waziri area, Minna returned home from work on 27th of May, 2025 and noticed that unknown person(s) broke into his house and stole household items.

According to him, “As a result of this, an intelligence-led investigation was carried out, leading to the arrest of a suspect on 3rd June, 2025 named Nana Mubarak 24yrs, a female of Angwan-Biri, who is the daughter of the landlady, a housewife and nursing mother”

Abiodun said a search was conducted in her house and all the stolen items except the plasma television were recovered.

He stated that during interrogation, she confessed to the crime, revealing that she had sold the plasma TV to a buyer for #55,000, which was also recovered.

The items recovered include; one LG Plasma 32-inch television set., one electric cooking stove and half bag of charcoal., two extension boxes, one 6kg gas cylinder, one electric blender, three kettles and three cooking pots, two electric pressing Irons, three rubber basins., eighteen pieces of wrappers, rubber cups, rubber baskets, a set of white coolers and other kitchen utensils.

Both Mubarak and the buyer have been charged to court.
